With the start of a new year upon us, I, like many others, have taken a moment to dive into my wardrobe to consider which pieces served me over the past year and uncover the gaps that are yet to be filled. Over the past year, I focused on my capsule wardrobe, laying the foundations of great outfits with a series of hardworking staples that have made putting together elegant outfits that much easier. Now, heading into 2026, I’m taking a moment to highlight a pair of jeans that always bring a contemporary edge to my looks, and that’s the M&S Mid Rise Barrel Jeans.

Last year, the barrel-leg cut emerged as the defining shape of the year. From denim to tailoring, this horseshoe-shaped style has been embraced by high street and high-end brands alike, and over the past 12 months, I’ve put numerous different offerings to the test. One of my favourite styles came from trusty Marks & Spencer. Known for its excellent denim selection, it comes as no surprise that the brand would add another standout style to its already acclaimed collection.
